Hannah Slamen’s diverse education and experience has given her the ability to capture the uniqueness in each person and places she photographs. A native of California, she continues to seek new ideas and styles for her varied customers – ranging from weddings and bridal sittings to family portraits to commercial clients such as Red Bull, Portico Magazine, Salvation Army, CTS, Doree at Soho, Deep Magazine, About Town Magazine, and Wined Down.
After graduating with a BA in Photography, Hannah worked as an intern for Birmingham photojournalist, Melissa Springer and with Production Plus. That media production company with clients such as Big Communications, Amsouth and Southern Living.
A desire to shoot haute couture drove Hannah to New York City, where she worked with renowned fashion photographer, Stan Shaffer. While working for Stan, Hannah was exposed to the fast pace of work and creative world of fashion photography. The experience gained from working on these shoots in NYC helped her develop a unique eye for flare - shaping a recognizable style all her own.
Hannah returned to Birmingham in 2005 to work with Karim Shamsi-Basha, co-founder of Portico Magazine, as his studio manager.
She’s happy to bring her style “back down South” and have the opportunity to share a studio with talented local photographer, Rita Chiesa.
